The Lisa DeFrancis Cancer Fund The Lisa DeFrancis Cancer Fund was conceived by Lisa DeFrancis in 1998 just prior to her death following almost eight years of struggle with Breast Cancer. The Fund's primary mission is to benefit Oncology Nursing.
Lisa, her husband Henry Isaacs and their three children enjoyed traveling to new places and meeting new people. The energy collected and stored from these times helped fuel Lisa's desire to live and fight. Lisa DeFrancis established this fund to benefit nursing staffs of oncology centers across northern New England. The fund now provides annual grants to Northern New England oncology nurses for the specific purpose of traveling and achieving a much earned "break".
Lisa hoped to recognize these men and women whose long hours, difficult work conditions and often inadequate financial compensation do not deter them from serving as the front line of cancer treatment, showing extraordinary devotion and care to their patients. Lisa hoped that with with these grants she would be able to provide a small bit of peace and rejuvenation for those that were there for her and her family and continue to be needed by others.
Monies are distributed to grantees on a lottery basis among the nursing staffs by The Vermont Community Foundation. Contributions are tax deductible. Gallery North Star and its Artists support the Lisa DeFrancis Cancer Fund. During the course of the Henry Isaacs Solo Exhibition, the Gallery and Artists will be donating a significant portion of each sale to the fund. With a minimum donation of $10 to the Lisa DeFrancis Cancer Fund made through Gallery North Star, you will receive a small signed limited edition giclee of Henry Isaacs' "Barns And Mountains". |
